Customer background

Globetronics Technology is a semiconductor company based in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. The AR Smart Assistant project deployed in 2022 and it's still an on-going project.

Operational challenges

The project focused on making industrial knowledge more accessible for machine maintenance. Traditional 2D information needed to be centralised and converted into practical 3D work instructions, supporting engineers as they documented procedures and onboarded colleagues.

THEXRA’s solution and implementation

Globetronics collaborated with THEXRA and VIRNECT. Following XR consultation by THEXRA’s experts, the solution used a no-code XR studio to centralise information and convert 2D material into accessible 3D work instructions, visualised as holograms through AR smart glasses.

A one-day workshop enabled engineers to document procedures using VIRNECT Make and convert them into AR manuals. This approach put knowledge capture in the hands of the engineers who carry out the work.

VIRNECT Make and XR work instructions

Engineers documented procedures as AR digital manuals. The project photos show AR smart-glasses use, an AR work-instruction scene for a capillary-change procedure, and machine-maintenance activity at Globetronics.

Reported results

  • Onboarding reduced from 30 days to 3 days, as reported in the THEXRA company presentation.
  • 30% improvement in efficiency and productivity by onsite technicians

CEO perspective

“By digitally transforming our processes using XR, we've witnessed a 30% improvement in efficiency & productivity by onsite technicians. We're now centralizing knowledge across departments, has positioned us ahead of competitors. We have a long term partnership with XRA to utilize the VIRNET platform and to plan expansion in our project where AI introduction will be key.”
